MoreSpace turns an Android device into an additional display for a Linux computer. The app is built without advertising, analytics, or tracking.
1. Data We Collect
1.1 Local connection data (never leaves your devices)
To connect your Android device to your Linux machine, MoreSpace processes the following locally, between your own devices:
- local network addresses, such as the IP address and port of your Linux machine;
- USB connection state;
- display configuration information, such as resolution, refresh rate, and scaling;
- input information needed for the app to function, such as touch, stylus, pointer, and keyboard input.
This information is used only to provide the display, input, and connection functionality of MoreSpace. It is processed locally and is never transmitted to MoreSpace servers.
1.2 Licensing and account data (sent to MoreSpace servers)
When you sign in with Google and activate MoreSpace, we process the following to verify your entitlement to use the software and to prevent abuse:
- Google Sign-In identity: your Google account identifier (the "sub" value) and, from your ID token, your email address. We use these only to identify your entitlement, link purchases, and manage your trial.
- Installation identifier: a random identifier generated on your Android device for this installation.
- Device information: your device model, operating system version, app package name, and app version code.
- Host information: an identifier derived from your Linux host (a hash of the machine identifier), the daemon version, and whether you connect over WiFi or USB.
- Connection metadata: your IP address, heartbeat timestamps, and connection type, used to enforce your entitlement and keep your session valid.
- Purchase records: when you buy or restore a purchase through Google Play, Google Play confirms the purchase to our licensing service, and we record which product you own.
Display contents, touch input, stylus input, keyboard input, files, images, and screen recordings are never sent to MoreSpace servers. Screen data is transmitted only between your own Android device and your own Linux machine.
2. Google Sign-In
Signing in with Google is required to activate MoreSpace. Google handles the sign-in flow and shares with us the identity information described in section 1.2. You can manage or revoke your Google sign-in and see what Google shares at your Google account settings.
3. Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In and Google Play: Google may process purchase, installation, sign-in, crash, device, and diagnostic information according to Google's own policies and your Google settings.
- Cloudflare Workers / Cloudflare R2: our licensing backend and software download hosting run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process basic technical information (such as IP address and request metadata) in line with its own policies and its role as our hosting provider.
MoreSpace does not include third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs.
4. Purchases and Trials
Payments are processed by Google Play. MoreSpace does not receive or store your full payment card details. Purchase verification and trial status are managed through our licensing service using the data in section 1.2.
5. Linux Daemon Downloads
The MoreSpace Linux daemon may be downloaded from the MoreSpace website.
Standard web server or hosting-provider logs may temporarily process basic technical information such as IP address, request time, browser user agent, and downloaded file path. This information is used for security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and service reliability.
6. Permissions
MoreSpace only requests permissions that are needed for its core functionality, such as USB access or local network communication to connect to your Linux machine.
MoreSpace does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, precise location, photos, SMS messages, or call history.
7. Data Retention
- Session tokens: temporary signed tokens that expire automatically (by default within 24 hours) and are re-issued only when needed.
- Heartbeats: connection status records kept for entitlement enforcement and abuse prevention.
- Licensing records (install, entitlement, purchase, Google account link): retained as long as needed to provide the service, manage entitlements, and prevent fraud. You can delete these as described below.
- Local app settings: stored on your device. You can delete them by clearing the MoreSpace app data in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
8. Data Deletion
To delete your MoreSpace licensing data (your Google account link, entitlements, devices, sessions, and purchase records on our backend), visit our account deletion page and sign in with your Google account — your data is removed immediately. If you cannot sign in, contact us using the email below and we will remove your data within 5 business days. Deleting your Google account link revokes access to your MoreSpace entitlement; you may be asked to sign in again to re-verify.
To delete local app data, use your Android system settings to clear MoreSpace app data or uninstall the app. To delete Linux host data, remove the MoreSpace configuration directory on the host (for example, ~/.config/morespace and ~/.local/share/morespace).
9. Security
MoreSpace is designed to keep display and input communication between your own Android device and your own Linux machine.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the software and related services, including signed session tokens and hashed host identifiers.
You should only connect MoreSpace to Linux machines and networks that you trust.
10. Children
MoreSpace is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, daemon, website, legal requirements, or data practices change.
The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
